
I only want to open my mini up the once so will only do it when I have bought both the drives.

Not sure on the timescale but ultimately I want to install a Samsung MT9 2TB hard drive (£70) and a 240GB SSD (£75-£80) then create a 2.2TB Fusion drive. As you've got a 12 month warranty on your mini and you haven't experienced SSD speeds I would just make do for a year as you've still got an awesome little machine.

You said your i7's already rocking 16GB ram?, so I guess the only other upgrade you could do is get an SSD. EBuyer do it for £44, but to be honest a 256GB drive would be better value at around £75.
